Help Feed the Hungry Get Your Hands Dirty in Mission
Approximately ten years ago, the Mission Committee conceived the idea of sharing the bounty from our gardens with others who are less fortunate. People are encouraged to designate a portion of their gardens for sale at our booth at the local Farmer’s Market. At the close of the market each fall, proceeds from these sales are forwarded to the Presbyterian Hunger Program. Through our congregation's support of this project, providing the best of their garden, scrumptious baked goods, and other contributions at our tent every Saturday, we make a difference.
First Presbyterian Church is one of Warren's key vendors at the Warren Farmer’s Market. The market runs from July through the end of October and is open every Saturday morning from 8:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
Receipts for 2010 totaled a record-setting $7,100.00. This brings the total amount raised since the program's inception in 2000 to $56,351.18. These monies have been sent to the Presbyterian Hunger Program.
Sale of our Fair Trade Coffee products also contributes toward this mission effort. The Fair Trade Coffee sold at the Farmer’s Market is currently subsidized by our Mission Committee, are accrued through the season, tallied, and forwarded to the Presbyterian Hunger Program. Thanks to the dedication and support of our congregation and others who support this program through their time, produce, and purchases, we are making a difference.
Fair Trade Coffee products are available for sale at the church year-round during normal office hours. The church office is open Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. except holidays. Please contact us with any questions.
Please join us in this fun and worthwhile mission endeavor, which yields such life-changing results. You will be glad you did.
